    Integrated assessment

    Theory:
Tests, projects, assignments and internal examinations

    Practicals:
Public speaking, addressing the public at specific functions (eg. career evenings), class presentations (verbal end visual) and experiential learning period form part of practical evaluations. IATA/UFTAA, GALILEO and DTS Fares and Ticketing are practically assessed. Lecturer evaluation at all times, sometimes with external assistance.

    Resource center utilisation:
Learners must include a bibliography with all projects indicating resources consulted, whether reference material of the College or another source.Experiential learning:Experiential learning is an integral part of the programme. Learners are assisted by the College to find suitable workstations. A well structured Log-book, which gets signed by the learner, employer and college lecturer, is in use to ensure control over the actual work experience gained by the learner.

    Projects:
Group, individual and external evaluation of projects takes place. Also hands-on experience where specific projects can be generated, eg. a Public Relations campaign for the local travel agency.

  • INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY
The programme compares favourably with similar international programmes based on comparison of brochures. Learners who have worked overseas, especially in Britain, report that they are very well qualified for comparable job opportunities. The travel programme is highly comparable in that three modules (IATA/UFTAA, Galileo and BSP) are international qualifications incorporated into the programme.

    ARTICULATION OPTIONS
On completion of this qualification, besides careers in the formal travel industry, learners may also be employed as Public Relations Practitioners, Receptionists, Secretaries, Private Assistants and Computer Operators.

    MODERATION OPTIONS
The College subscribes to a variety of evaluation / moderation processes:
  • We write the examinations of external bodies such as UNISA, IATA, PRISA and Galileo.
  • We use lecturers from universities and technikons to moderate the examination papers and scripts.
  • Own staff are being used as internal moderators and will be qualified as assessors in the near future.
  • We make use of registered assessors, eg. from THETA.
