PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
This qualification will produce much-needed professionals to enter or to specialise in Health Promotion and related health profession fields

1. BSc Honours (4th year) after completion.

2. Demonstration of the ability to conduct research through the planning, execution and verbal plus written presentation of results.

3. The mini research project involves a seminar presentation of methodology at commencement, a further seminar presentation of results at conclusion followed by the submission of a written SAPSE journal format.

4. Demonstration of the ability to gather, collate and interpret diverse information by undertaking written reviews of specified scientific topics.

5. Demonstration of the ability to organise and undertake practical work as well as co-operate in a team during the conduct of research.

6. Demonstrating a certain level of competency in statistical and computer use.

7. Demonstration of the ability to assimilate, interpret and summarise information through written exams on specified topics. 

ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 
Integrated assessment
  • Honours modules will be of 1 year duration, with a quarterly test & assignment, along with weekly practicals. 

  • ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
    This honours course may afford specialisation in Health Promotion or one of a number of directions in the field of health related disciplines. 

    MODERATION OPTIONS 
    The final exam and the research project along with other completed work (assignments, practicals, research reviews) will be moderated by at least two internal examiners and at least one external examiner. The external examiner will be attached to a higher education institution, to a research institute or to an institution that specialises in aspects of Human Movement Science. The external examiner will be a relevant specialist.
