| ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA |
| 1.
2. 3. 4. 5. Integrated Assessment: The range of assessment methods reflects the requirements of the various elements and teaching and learning approaches of the course and are based on formative and summative assessment with diagnostic assessment being used where required. Diagnostic Assessment provides an indication of a students aptitude and preparedness for a programme of study and identified learning issues, and is also applied to applications for RPL. This assessment is completed during the course of study and used to determine the students understanding or ability of current work. These assessments are undertaken at differing intervals and form part of the assessment of a module element. Formative assessment can be made up of tests, competence-based systems or other mastery methods as required. Marks retained by the lecturer are used when assessing final results where necessary. Methods of Formative Assessment: Any of the following methods of formative assessment are utilized within the programme: Structured feed-back sessions; focus groups; self-research; logbooks; tutorials; questionnaires and surveys; shadowing; informal chats; one minute methods; student diaries; suggestion boxes/books. The aim of summative assessment is to sum up what the student can do and is done against a checklist of skills and/or competencies, as well as to grade the student by using the marks obtained in each element of assessment. The mark gained in each module is then converted to it's weighted percentage placing the module mark in relation to it's importance with reference to the course outcomes as a whole. The student is assessed on the development of their intellectual and imaginative powers, understanding and intropersonal, organizational and management skills and to perceive their field of study in a broader perspective. |
| INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY |

| Vertical articulation with Masters Degree level programmes through South African public institutions and international service providers is available to learners. |
| MODERATION OPTIONS |
| All assessments are moderated by an internal moderator using various methods of moderation. All final submissions or exit level work is also externally moderated by two external examiners sourced from South African Higher Education Institutions, one of whom visits the programme quarterly to view in-process work. Final submissions of all modules are moderated on an annual basis, the procedure of which is verified by an academic peer from Nottingham Trent University, U.K.
Internal moderators are sourced from appropriate academic staff who have been coached through a series fo workshops on assessment strategies and the standards required at each level of study. Due to the small numbers all submissions work is double marked using the 'blind marking' process where possible.
