PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:

Slitting metallised paper rolls to prescribed quality standards to fulfill production requirements. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have :
  • Literacy and numeracy at NQF level 2.
  • Knowledge of the application of quality control on metallised paper.
  • Knowledge of preparing a slitting machine for production.
  • Knowledge of the use of hoisting apparatus.
  • Introduction to the Tobacco Processing Industry. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work-site procedures and operating instructions.

    The scope of this unit standard deals with the slitting of paper rolls after preparation of the slitting machine for production.

    Material includes different grammage metalised papers, silicone spray, cello tape, adhesive and stamp pad ink.

    Equipment includes, but is not limited to, slitting knives, rewind shafts, inner cores, special tools, hoisting equipment, pallets and pallet trucks.
