PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
This Unit Standard is intended for people who are required to attend to the solving of problems encountered with Customs clearances, including the release of goods from State Warehouses.
Individuals who are credited with this Unit Standard will be able to apply a knowledge and understanding of the relevant sections of the Customs Act (including penal and other general provisions) and Rules to the finalisation of Customs clearances, including Audit Queries, stops, detentions, examinations and acquittals, prohibitions and restrictions. They will also be able to apply this knowledge to assist importers and exporters to comply with provisions for the release of goods stopped by statutory bodies, other than Customs (such as Port Health, Department of Agriculture). |

The provisions of the Prohibited and Dangerous Goods Index to assist the importer in complying with the provisions for the release of goods stopped by statutory bodies.
