PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners credited with this unit standard are able to develop a craft production process and schedule. This unit standard contributes to the competence of those who want to develop a career path in the Art, Craft and Design sector, and contributes to greater levels of production and quality in this industry.

If learners are competent in this unit standard then the production of craft will be structured to generally improve and increase production quality, and marketing of craft products.

Learners credited with this unit standard are capable of:
  • Identifying steps of production for optimal output.
  • Planning work areas for craft production.
  • Allocating production teams.
  • Developing and applying production schedules. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is recommended that the learner has completed the NQF level 2 National Certificate in Craft Production or equivalent with competencies in planning and participating in a craft production process.

    Production process refers to all planning, selecting materials, preparation of materials, production of product, finishing of product and quality check of product.
