PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
The qualifying learner is capable of:
Tensioning bonded and unbonded tensions to within specified tolerances and carrying out post-tensioning operations in accordance with safety legislation and workplace requirements. Demonstrate techniques for casting dead end lock plates into concrete, cutting, sealing and grouting tendons, grouting ducts and sealing end lock plates into concrete. Learners who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will be able to work on a construction site and are required to tension unbonded tendons. In addition to the above learners will be able to prepare to tension, tension tendons and conduct post tensioning operations. It contributes to socio-economic transformation in that learners will be able to undergo RPL assessment and receive recognition for previous learning and experience. This unit standard can therefore enhance the employability and career prospects of learners. |
