PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit is for people who scale tree lengths into poles in a production situation. People credited with this unit are able to:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of factors influencing efficiencies in scaling tree lengths into poles.
  • Prepare for log scaling.
  • Scale tree lengths into poles to meet specifications.

    Demonstrate knowledge of basic safety in forestry operations. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    Demonstration of competence will take place "on-the-job" in a production situation. Poles must include both transmission and telephone poles.
