PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard will be useful to learners who are working within a Public Sector, Local Government, commercial or community environment, and will fulfill a leadership role as part of their job. This Unit Standard will also add value to public officials who are working with integrated development planning or public sector management and administration specialists.

The qualifying learner is capable of:

  • Apply selected scenarios into strategic and business planning processes

    The concept of being a visionary in a leadership context is discussed with examples. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The characteristics and typical traits of famous visionaries are discussed and their role in innovation and scenario planning is outlined with examples. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The difference between a 'prophet' and a 'leader' from a visionary perspective is explained with examples. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Visionary techniques are identified and explained with examples. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Visionary techniques include but are not limited to seeing the future and planning for this, converting dreams into reality, converting vision into a workable strategy.

    The importance of visionary thinking in leading others is discussed with examples relating to own leadership context.

    Research on priority areas is conducted, analysed and documented for input into scenario planning.

  • Any individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
