PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will be able to prepare for manufacturing in a safe and efficient manner, which will contribute towards the overall efficiency of the organisation. This competence will enable the learner to interpret the job card; use and interpret the manufacturing procedures and estimate material usage. This will ensure that breakages and stoppages are kept to a minimum and equipment is used in accordance with safe work practices. This competence will advance the learner's own expertise and employability in both the construction sector and other related jobs.

    Range includes identification of sections and hardware, limitations imposed by geographical area and selection of gaskets and glazing procedures in glass fitting.

    The manufacturing limitations are extracted from the manufacturing manuals. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    The range includes mullion and sash.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    A complete summary of the different system types is provided in accordance with manufacturing procedures. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    The range includes shop fronts, sliding windows, sliding doors, sliding folding doors, casements, curtain walls and sliding stacking doors.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    The parameters of the different systems are understood in the context of manufacturing processes and procedures.

    Installation method and glass thickness are included in accordance with panel size, height of building, panel/glass infill, wind load, sash and mullion.

  • Anyone assessing a learner or moderating the assessment of a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable the achievement of this Unit Standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant Education, Training, Quality, Assurance (ETQA) or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Assessment and moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA or by an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA, according to the ETQA's policies and guidelines for assessment and moderation.
  • Moderation must include both internal and external moderation of assessments at exit points of the Unit Standard, unless ETQA policies specify otherwise. Moderation should also encompass achievement of the competence described both in individual Unit Standards as well as the integrated competence described in the Unit Standard.
