This unit standard reflects the skills required to carry out post-production operations with manufactured product in particular ensuring that components are ready for the next operational stage or storage.

It also reflects the understanding of key factors related to the handling and storage of specific products and products made of specific materials.

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are already competent in Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 1.

    In addition, learners are assumed to have GETC in Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Activities NQF Level 1 or an equivalent qualification in the context of the printing and manufacture of packaging industry.

    The scope and level of this unit standard is indicated by range statements related to the specific outcomes. The work reflected in this unit standard is normally performed under supervision. The work will by guided be relevant worksite procedures and safety, health and environmental legislation.

    Planning includes preparing further documentation liaising with others, packing, labelling, transport or preparation for the next stage.

    Wastage or damage to product is kept to a minimum.

  • Packaging includes packing of product, labels attaching dispatch information, advertising stickers and piling product on dispatch units in a stacking pattern.
  • Consumables include plastic film, strapping paper; programming stack patterns.
