PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to ensure that all the correct preparations and inspection processes and procedures are carried out during the percussion rock drill inspection. Learners will also be able to examine both the test equipment and percussion rock drills for defects as well as inspect the worksite for potential risks and hazards.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Describing the inspection process of a percussion rock drill.
  • Preparing to conduct an inspection.
  • Inspecting percussion rock drill.
  • Performing post-inspection activities.
