PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The qualifying learner is capable of ensuring that a serviced vehicle is handed over in the quickest and most efficient manner in prime condition while being able to include the input of a service advisor or SME, making the added value of servicing as tangible as possible, to ensure repeat servicing.

This unit standard makes provision for the automotive retail industry with special reference to handing over vehicles in the following categories; Light commercial vehicles; passenger vehicles; recreational vehicles; Motor cycles; Tri-cycles; Quad cycles; Boats; Off Road (ATR) vehicles and earth moving equipment.

On achievement of this unit standard, the learner will be able to:
  • Prepare the vehicle for handover.
  • Hand over the vehicle in accordance to standard procedures.
  • Process the customer's payment in accordance with company procedures.

    Prepare the vehicle for handover. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The quality standards of a specific servicing outlet are explained with reference to the learner being able to interpret them. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Quality standards may include but are not limited to organisational test procedures to check mechanical operations, vehicle appearance and customer requirements.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The quality control measures are described in terms of recognising sub-standard quality. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Quality control measures may include but are not limited to a vehicle inspection aimed at determining whether or not the customers concerns have all been dealt with.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Incidents of sub-standard quality are recorded to identify weaknesses and trends in the system. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Record of incidents of sub-standard quality may include but is not limited to correlating information and interpreting quality standards.

    Statistical interpretations of sub-standard quality incidents are communicated according to company procedures in order to continuously improve the quality system.

    The vehicle is inspected to ensure that it is ready for delivery.

    The service and or repairs are explained to the customer in terms of the job sheet.

    The explanation must include but is not limited to actions taken and parts replaced.

    Handover/delivery documentation is completed according to company policy.

    Documentation may include but is not limited to service booklet, invoice, job cards, warrantees, costing, guarantees, check sheets, diagnostic reports and/or CSI questionnaire.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The customer is advised on key points to bear in mind for the safe and durable operation of the vehicle.

    Process the customer's payment in accordance with company procedures.
