PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for people in the automotive engineering industry who are expected to trace and repair advanced auto-electrical circuits on an automobile from circuit diagrams, in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer service manuals.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Interpret auto electric circuit diagrams.
  • Select and use test equipment to locate faults on auto electric circuits.
  • Remove and fit components.
  • Complete fault finding reports.

    This unit standard is a core standard in the context of one or more of the following areas of specialisation:
  • Passenger vehicle.
  • Commercial vehicle.
  • Earthmoving equipment.
