PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
The learner achieving this unit standard will be able to use a broad knowledge of South Africa and a local area to enhance a tourist's experience of South Africa. This will enable the enhancement of the local or international tourist's image of the country and its tourism services.
The learner who achieves the credits for this unit standard will be able to apply knowledge of South Africa to support the design of tourism experiences to the benefit of tourists and participants in tourism and related activities. This versatile unit standard is likely to be useful for anyone in tourism whose work relies for its success on a good level of background information on South Africa. Guides, information officers, tour agents, operators, tourist guides and marketers should all benefit, with consequent advantage to the sub field as a whole. On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to: On completion of this unit standard the learner should be ready to develop learning in further, more complex processes related to the outstanding tourist attractions, natural life, cultural heritage and other features of South Africa. |
