    The instrument and accessories are inspected and tested for functionality and defects are dealt with.

    Permission, where applicable, is obtained to enter the working place and the dangers of entering a working place without obtaining permission are explained in terms of the consequences to occupational health and safety.

    The working place is examined and hazards and risks are dealt with in accordance with occupational health and safety.

    The preparation work is performed in a manner that fosters teamwork and avoids conflict.

    The test for gas is conducted in accordance to occupational health, safety and production.

    The test results are recorded and evaluated and if necessary, action is taken in accordance with specified requirements.

    The importance of evaluating test results and taking corrective action is explained in terms of the consequences to health and safety.

    Conditions and limitations that can influence the readings are dealt with and the importances of dealing with such condition are explained in terms of the consequences to occupational health and safety.

    The immediate vicinity is continuously assessed and hazards and risks pertaining to health and safety are dealt with in accordance with specified requirements.

    The instrument is cleaned and defective equipment and used detector tubes are dealt with in a manner consistent with specified requirements.

    The importance of dealing with defective and used equipment is explained in terms of the consequences to occupational health and safety. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Reports are complete, accurate, in the required format, and submitted to designated personnel on time in terms of legal and site-specific requirements.
