PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Promotion of self-empowerment so that people can reach their maximum potential in life. Persons credited with this unit standard will be able to display the skills necessary for effective personal planning, display an understanding of assertiveness, display analytical and reflective thinking skills, display an understanding of career planning and management skills. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Communication ABET level 3 in both English and Mother tongue or equivalent titled `Engage in a range of speaking and listening interactions`.
