  • The learner should study the industrial relations legislation pertaining to staff performance. It is critical that the learner has a good understanding and knowledge of this legislation.
  • Emphasis should be placed on the importance of confidentiality when monitoring staff performance.
  • Learner could practice doing performance appraisals and counselling sessions in a simulated environment using case studies until the learner is more confident.
  • Learner could practice one-to-one coaching techniques in a simulated environment until the learner has gained sufficient confidence.
  • Learner could be given staff within a particular department whose performance must be monitored in the workplace on an ongoing basis. Evidence should be collected of feedback, achievements, appraisals, corrective action, counselling sessions and records.
  • A portfolio of evidence of all practical experience in the workplace would be valid. This unit should be assessed over a period of time so that the learner can address issues of ongoing monitoring, coaching, feedback and counselling.

  • Ongoing measurement of the learner`s ability to meet this standard is recommended.
  • A new employee should be able to achieve this unit within 2 months of being trained.

PROVIDERS CURRENTLY ACCREDITED TO OFFER THIS UNIT STANDARD:
This information shows the current accreditations (i.e. those not past their accreditation end dates), and is the most complete record available to SAQA as of today. Some Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionaries have a lag in their recording systems for provider accreditation, in turn leading to a lag in notifying SAQA of all the providers that they have accredited to offer qualifications and unit standards, as well as any extensions to accreditation end dates. The relevant Primary or Delegated Quality Assurance Functionary should be notified if a record appears to be missing from here.
