UNIT STANDARD NOTES |
Definition of Terms:
Terms have been clarified as far as possible through the use of range statements. The Middle Ages: is a tendentious phrase which historians tend to eschew as being overloaded with value judgements. However, in a broad sense, it can be understood as the period between 500 and 1500 in which the old Roman order collapsed in the West and a new form of society and polity emerged, with profound implications for the development of Western Christianity. |
